The Role
You will be responsible for supporting the business in the continual improvement of financial control, management reporting, statutory reporting and tax accounting.

The expectation for this role, will involve a minimum of one day each month - working out of our London Bridge office
Key Accountabilities Include
Management reporting
• Assisting the monthly reporting process, ensuring the accuracy of the books and records.
• Supporting the production of monthly MI decks.
Financial Control
• Supporting the timely production of the annual report.
• Management of statutory reporting obligations including year end financial statements, tax.
• Manage the daily reconciliation of customer deposits in issue in line with regulatory requirements ensuring the effective operation of reconciliation process and system inputs and optimal structure of financial reporting to support this process.
• Maintain tight financial control in line with the approved financial control framework and the business authority matrix.
• Work with both internal and external audit to improve the level of control for any identified weaknesses.
• Day to day liaison with external audit team to ensure clean audit requests and actions are resolved in a timely manner.
• Manage the process of monthly balance sheet review to ensure appropriate application of accounting policy including accruals and accounting judgments.
Tax and Payroll
• Supporting the Head of Financial Control and the Head of Management Reporting with Tax and Payroll responsibilities.
Business Improvement
• Identify and implement efficiencies in the reconciliation processes, leveraging improvements for the new general ledger.
• Support the implantation of more automated reconciliation process, either via a new system of through continuous improvement initiatives.
Risk and Control Management
• Identify and manage risks thoroughly and within risk appetite.
• Enhancement of the balance sheet reconciliation process, including deep dives and implementing monthly reporting dashboard.
• Oversee procedures documentation for key processes.
You'll Need to Have
Essential
• Experience in a similar role within a banking organisation with a focus on financial controls.
• An accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA)
• Experience of working to support internal and external audit requirements.
• Well versed in the production of consolidated statutory accounting schedules.
• Knowledge of financial controls, IFRS and financial instruments.
• Strong excel skills essential.
• Excellent analytical, communication and influencing skills (both written and oral).
• Professional “can do” attitude and work ethic.
Desirable
• Understanding of UK tax requirements within a bank environment.
• Accounting system implementation experience.
